the right figures.

rules apply.

These are the proportional rules for unclassified accommodation in this local authority. They do not cover every part of the Dordogne.

Which year’s rates apply?

Use the year of your stay, rather than the year you make the booking. The booking calendar applies the adopted 2027 rate to the live accommodation price and your complete group.

Guests under 18 on arrival are included in the occupancy calculation but do not pay the tax.

The 2026 calculation, made clear

Every guest counts.
Only taxable guests pay.

  1. 01

    Share the accommodation cost

Divide the pre-tax stay price by the nights and by everyone staying, including children.

  2. 02

    Apply the local rate

Take 4%, capped at €4.00. Round this base tax to cents, then calculate and round the 10% departmental addition.

  3. 03

    Total the taxable nights

Add the two tax amounts, then multiply by the nights and the guests who are not exempt.

A worked example · 2026

Seven nights.
Two adults, two children.

For a €1,400 accommodation charge excluding taxes: €1,400 ÷ 7 ÷ 4 = €50 per person per night. The base tax is €2.00; the addition is €0.20.

€2.20 × 7 nights × 2 taxable adults.

Which price
should I enter?

Use the accommodation charge after any accommodation discount, excluding VAT and tourist tax. Separately identifiable extras that can be detached from the accommodation price can be excluded under the national guidance.

If the extras cannot be separated, the overall pre-tax charge may form the calculation basis. Ask your provider if the quote is unclear.

Who is
exempt?

Guests under 18 do not pay. Other exemptions include qualifying seasonal workers and people in emergency accommodation or temporary rehousing. People domiciled in the commune are outside the tax’s scope.

The 2026 local guidance also provides a low-rent exemption. This tool directs unusually low-price cases to the authority for confirmation, rather than assuming which guests qualify.

Useful to know

A few practical
answers.

Does this cover the whole Dordogne?

No. It covers the Bastides Dordogne-Périgord authority, including Marsalès, Monpazier and Biron. Other authorities can set different tariffs.

Why count children if they do not pay?

The per-person accommodation cost uses everyone staying. The final tax is charged only for guests who are liable and not exempt.

Is tourist tax included in the rental price?

It is identified separately. At Maison Sérénité, Tony and Niki check the applicable amount before accepting your request, and adjust the quote where necessary.

Can I use this for another holiday rental?

The 2026 estimate can be used for an unclassified rental within this authority, with the same group and nightly charge throughout. It is not for officially star-rated accommodation, other fixed-rate categories or a different year.

What if a booking platform already collected it?

Check your receipt. If the legally applicable tax has already been collected, it should not be charged twice. Ask the platform or provider to resolve any difference before paying again.

Does the 10% addition mean 10% of my rental?

No. It is 10% of the base tourist-tax amount. For example, a €2.00 base tax has a €0.20 departmental addition.
