Sources, coverage & how these figures were calculated

Our calculations use Météo-France’s monthly open records, using source files updated on 1 and 22 September 2026 and checked on 22 September 2026, under the Open Licence 2.0. Monpazier station 24280001, at 199 metres elevation, provides complete temperature and rainfall records for all 72 months from January 2020 to December 2025. Each monthly figure averages six observations of that calendar month. Only validated records with complete daily counts are included.

These are recent observed averages, not official 30-year climate normals. The station is a local reference; conditions at the house can differ. The incomplete 2026 calendar year is excluded. Sunshine measurements are not available at this station, so we have not substituted figures from somewhere else.

Recent summers, in context

A more recent
view of the seasons.

Older averages alone can miss how recent years have felt. That is why this guide leads with Monpazier’s 2020–2025 observations.

For a longer regional comparison, Bergerac’s average summer daily high was 28.5°C in 2016–2025, compared with 27.1°C in 1991–2020. Both figures use the same station and June–August period.

A few things worth knowing

Plan with
a little confidence.

When is the best time to visit Monpazier?

It depends on the holiday you enjoy. Consider May, June and September for village outings and outdoor lunches, or July and August for a summer stay with time by the pool. Compare the recent monthly averages with your own preference for warmth, then check availability and the forecast closer to travel.

How warm is Monpazier in summer?

At Monpazier station, average daily highs over 2020–2025 were 27.0°C in June, 29.5°C in July and 30.8°C in August. These are averages across six summers; individual days can be considerably hotter or cooler.

Does it rain in the Dordogne in summer?

Rain is possible throughout the year. Monthly totals describe how much fell, not how many days were wet or whether rain lasted all day. Use the forecast for individual outings and keep a château, heritage visit or long lunch in mind as an alternative.

Are these old climate averages?

The main monthly table uses complete 2020–2025 records from Monpazier itself. The separate summer comparison uses Bergerac records for 2016–2025 and 1991–2020. These recent averages are historical context, not an official 30-year climate normal or a forecast for your stay.
