Maison Sérénité · Guest privacy
Privacy Policy
We respect the privacy of our guests and website visitors. This notice explains what personal information we may collect in connection with Maison Sérénité, why we use it, who may receive it, how long we keep it, and the rights available to you.
Last updated: 9 August 20261. Who is responsible for your data?
Maison Sérénité is a privately owned furnished holiday home operated by Antony David John West (“Tony”) and Nicola Jayne West (“Niki”). For personal information processed in connection with enquiries, direct bookings and stays at Maison Sérénité, the owners are responsible for deciding why and how that information is used.
We have not appointed a Data Protection Officer. Privacy requests can be sent directly to the email address above.
2. Information we may collect
Depending on how you contact us or book, this may include:
- name, postal address, email address and telephone number;
- arrival and departure dates, party size, ages where relevant, and other booking details;
- messages, enquiries, requests and correspondence before, during or after a stay;
- transaction and payment-status information needed to administer a booking;
- information reasonably required for legal, tax, safety, insurance, damage or dispute purposes;
- technical and usage information generated when you use our website, including analytics information where permitted by your cookie choices; and
- information you choose to provide about accessibility or other stay requirements.
Please do not send sensitive personal information unless it is genuinely necessary for us to deal with a specific request.
3. Why we use personal information
Enquiries and steps before a booking
We use contact and stay information to answer questions, provide availability or pricing information and take steps requested by you before entering into a rental agreement.
Administering a confirmed stay
We use booking information where necessary to perform the rental agreement, take and record payments, send arrival information, provide guest support and manage the stay.
Legal and tax obligations
We may retain or disclose information where necessary to comply with applicable tax, accounting, tourist-tax, registration, law-enforcement or other legal obligations.
Legitimate interests
Where appropriate, we may process limited information for legitimate interests such as protecting the property, preventing fraud or misuse, keeping appropriate records, dealing with complaints, establishing or defending legal claims, and maintaining the security and effectiveness of the website and booking process. We consider these interests against the rights and freedoms of the people concerned.
Consent
Where the law requires consent — for example for non-essential cookies or analytics technologies — we rely on your consent. You can withdraw that consent at any time through the available cookie controls or by contacting us where applicable.
4. Information needed to make a booking
Some information is required so that we can provide a quote, verify availability, enter into and administer the rental agreement, process payment and meet legal obligations. If required booking information is not provided, we may be unable to accept or manage the reservation.
Where children are included in a booking, we aim to use only the limited information reasonably needed for occupancy, pricing, tourist-tax, safety or stay-administration purposes.
5. Who may receive your information?
We do not sell guest personal information. Information may be shared only where reasonably necessary with:
- Lodgify, which provides our website, booking and property-management technology and processes guest service data on our behalf;
- Stripe or another payment provider used to process payments securely. We do not ordinarily receive or store your full payment-card number;
- Airbnb, Booking.com, Vrbo or another booking platform when your reservation or enquiry originates through that service;
- trusted people or service providers who need limited information to help deliver or protect your stay, such as authorised property, maintenance, professional, insurance or technical advisers;
- tax, regulatory, law-enforcement, judicial or other public authorities where disclosure is required or permitted by law; and
- Google for website analytics where that functionality is enabled and permitted by your cookie choice.
If you choose to contact us through WhatsApp, Facebook Messenger or another third-party service, that provider will also process information under its own privacy terms.
6. Information received from booking platforms
If you book or enquire through an online travel or booking platform, we may receive your booking details and contact information from that platform rather than directly from you. The exact information depends on the platform and the reservation. The platform remains responsible for its own separate processing of your information under its privacy policy.
7. Payments
Online card payments are handled through secure payment technology integrated with our booking system. Payment providers process the sensitive card information required to authorise the transaction. We may receive transaction records and limited card information, such as card type or the final digits, but we do not ordinarily receive or store the full card number.
8. Cookies and website analytics
Our website uses cookies and similar technologies that are necessary for functions such as booking, security, language preferences and remembering privacy choices. We also use Google Analytics to understand how visitors find and use the website.
Where consent is required for analytics or other non-essential technologies, those technologies should be used in accordance with your cookie choice. You should be able to accept or refuse non-essential cookies and change your choice using the website’s available cookie controls.
Cookie choices may be stored for a period so that you are not repeatedly asked to make the same selection. The French data-protection authority, CNIL, considers around six months a generally appropriate period for retaining a cookie consent or refusal choice.
9. International data transfers
Some technology, payment, analytics, messaging or booking providers may process or store information outside France, the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom. Where applicable, such transfers are handled using the legal mechanisms and safeguards made available by the relevant provider, such as an adequacy decision or approved contractual safeguards.
10. How long we keep information
We keep personal information only for as long as reasonably necessary for the purpose for which it was collected and for any applicable legal period. Our general approach is:
- Enquiries that do not become bookings: normally up to 12 months after the last meaningful contact, unless there is a reason to keep them longer.
- Booking, contract, payment, accounting and tax records: for the period required by applicable legal, accounting and tax rules. Certain supporting accounting records may need to be retained for up to 10 years.
- Routine guest correspondence: normally up to 3 years after the stay, unless it forms part of a record that must be kept longer or is needed for a complaint, insurance matter or legal claim.
- Cookie choices and analytics information: according to the relevant cookie choice and configured service-retention periods, and no longer than reasonably necessary for the stated purpose.
Information may be retained longer where reasonably necessary to establish, exercise or defend legal rights, respond to an authority, or comply with a specific legal obligation.
11. Security
We take reasonable organisational and technical steps to protect personal information and use established booking and payment providers for sensitive transactional processes. No online system can guarantee absolute security, but we aim to limit access to information to people and providers who reasonably need it.
12. Your data-protection rights
Depending on the circumstances and the legal basis for the processing, you may have rights including:
To exercise a right, email [email protected]. We may need to verify your identity before acting on a request. We aim to respond within the time required by applicable law.
You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the French data-protection authority, the Commission Nationale de l’Informatique et des Libertés (CNIL).
13. Automated decision-making
We do not use personal information to make decisions about guests based solely on automated processing that produces legal or similarly significant effects.
14. Changes to this notice
We may update this Privacy Policy when our website, booking process, service providers or legal obligations change. The current version and its last-updated date will be published on this page.
