From discovering the area to welcoming guests

Why Maison Sérénité became our place in France

After years of travelling through France, we were drawn to the quieter countryside around Marsalès and the remarkable medieval bastide of Monpazier. The setting offered what we had been looking for: space, history, beautiful everyday landscapes and village life close enough to enjoy without losing the calm of the countryside.

A restoration with a clear purpose

We spent three years carefully restoring Maison Sérénité. The aim was not to remove its traditional Dordogne character, but to make the house comfortable and practical for modern family holidays while preserving the feeling that made us choose it.

That work shaped the way we host today. We understand the rooms, the grounds and the practical details because we have been closely involved in the property ourselves. Guests are therefore speaking to the people who know the house, rather than to a remote call centre.

What owner-managed means in practice

Personal help without taking away your privacy

Good hosting is not about hovering over a holiday. It is about preparing the house properly, answering honestly and making it easier for guests to decide whether Maison Sérénité is right for their group.

01

Direct answers

Ask about bedrooms, the sofa bed, bathrooms, children’s equipment, stairs, pool arrangements or anything else that affects your stay.

02

Careful preparation

We prepare the house with the group in mind, including the cot and high chair when requested before arrival.

03

Useful local knowledge

We can help with markets, restaurants, villages, family days out, walking, cycling and practical services around Monpazier.

04

A secure booking process

Questions come directly to us, while live pricing, booking requests and payments continue through the secure Lodgify process.

Honest suitability matters: Maison Sérénité is a traditional three-storey property with entrance steps and internal stairs. Please discuss reduced-mobility requirements before reserving so that we can describe the layout accurately.

Local guides created to help you use your holiday well

We have developed detailed guides because guests often need more than a list of famous attractions. They need realistic driving times, walking guidance, market planning, restaurant choices and ideas that suit the pace of their own group.

Practical answers from the owners

Questions guests often ask Tony and Niki

These answers explain how our owner-managed approach works. For dates, group-specific questions or accessibility needs, please use the Contact page so that we can respond accurately.

Are Tony and Niki the actual owners of Maison Sérénité?
Yes. We own Maison Sérénité, spent three years restoring it and personally prepare and manage guest stays.
Can you help us decide whether the house suits two families?
Yes. Tell us the ages and composition of the group and we can explain the four bedrooms, double sofa bed, bathrooms, separate WCs and shared living spaces.
Can we ask about accessibility before booking?
Yes, and we encourage it. The house has entrance steps and internal stairs across three storeys. Describe the mobility requirement and we will explain the relevant parts of the layout honestly.
Are a cot and high chair available?
Yes. They are available on request. Include them in your message before arrival so that the house can be prepared correctly.
Can you recommend restaurants, markets and family activities?
Yes. The website contains detailed local guides, and we can also help with practical questions about plans around Monpazier and the wider Dordogne.
How do we see the exact price for our dates?
Use the live Availability page with the correct dates and guest number. Lodgify will display the current price and booking information for that stay.
Does contacting you reserve the dates?
No. An enquiry allows us to answer questions, but dates are confirmed only after the formal Lodgify reservation process has been completed and accepted.
When will we receive detailed arrival instructions?
Property-specific directions, parking, key collection and access information are sent privately shortly before arrival. Access codes are never published on the public website.
